Hey, do the Mormons allow us to have as many husbands as we want too?
Just wondering.
If so, there'll be a mass stampede of women suddenly interested in that pseudo-religion!
And hey, how does that group operate in America anyway? Certianly not legally, right?
Does this fall under the reason that women have never gotten the equal pay for equal work thing?
Just wondering that too.
Where are the equal rights in these things?
Why aren't you wondering too?
And - why not, since the sexist pig-looking male patrons at Hooters want to bring future consumers, in the form of their little children, into their "food" establishments - let Playboy sponsor a "bring your kids to the Mansion" thing too?
Not only sexualize the kiddies early, but make damned sure they know exactly what females are for - servicing, turning-on, and whoring, right?
Stop it at the beginning, the way TV already does excellently well - make sure that little "whores in training" never get the idea that anything matters but their looks and getting male attention, right?
Don't let them think they matter on any other level.
And make sure that little boys understand this as well, so they can learn to dominate the females on the playgrounds and be getting sexual favors by the age of eight or nine from the girls - make sure they compete, guys, for the little boys' attention, too!
As the clothing for little girls gets more and more risque and provocative - shades of Jon Benet? - and as sexual behavior on TV gets more viewable by more kids, then naturally, they're getting the idea!
The old talk shows used to parade strippers on who'd talk about how much money they made - but not about any of the down sides to their trade.
Now there are centerfolds on all channels, hookers, and all sorts of excellent role models for the little girls to emulate! Whoopee for pedophiles! They won't ever have to train their captives again! And - they'll be happy to know that now they, too, can hang out at Hooters where they can view the little kids beings sexualized by their parents for them!
AND - all you Hooters Dads - extra fun for you! - you can all let your little girls know that you're leering at their older (or younger ) sisters already, their school pals, and that all the other Daddies of their little friends are leering at them already! Oh, joy for you all! After all, aren't you already dressing your little dolls like hookers? And starting young is great for you, isn't it?
And that Las Vegas showgirl who's missing now? She'd given up a lucrative corporate career to follow her dream of slutting it up onstage - isn't this just what the doctors ordered? I mean the plastic surgeons whose incomes depend upon the constant supply of soulless, insecure litlte girls who now demand plastic surgical "correction" even in pre-teen years?
Cool for the male public, right? I mean, unless you're a father - the old-fashioned, caring type - not like the pimpy ones like the one who pander their kids into showbiz, for instance, so they won't have to work themselves.
Clever, right?
I can think of three huge star names right now who'd merrily delivered up their sexualized young teen daughters to media frenzies, just like the pimps do on the corner.
Anyway, back to Hooters' cafes, who now claim they're good for children!
Forget happy meals and so on, now women in push-up bras and shorts so short they reveal just about everything, (according to a Hooter's Waitress on the Headline News show) - why not just sex the kids up early?
By pass the childhood parts, the fairytales, the jungle gyms and just feed 'em the facts of life?
But - hey - here we get to the equal rights.
Don't you think these men who just love Hooters and taking their little kids in will just LOVE my idea?
I want to get investors and start a nationwide "Family Food Chain" (as Hooters maintains it is), called "Dickies"!
With - you guessed it - really hot young guys with no shirts on, sporting extremely low-slung, sexy shorts to see theot back cleavage - extremely attentive, fliirty, college boys, maybe, who cater to the new women - women with lots of disposable income - don't you think the same men who revel in going to Hooters will love going with their wives to Dickies?
Oh, and I plan on the waiters wearing a special groin-enhancing form of underwear, leaving not much to the imagination, right?
Then, won't the Hooter's fans just love going there with their families? Kids and all?
Then the little boys and girls can learn what it's all about for real! Since the fathers who frequent Hooters want their boys and girls to learn that it's proper to get turned-on only by young women in forms of undress, (and not, presumably, by their wives - in other words, women who have had children are not, by their definition, hot or to be wanted by men any more) - then shouldn't the same wives teach the same boys and girls that it is also improper to be turned on by one's old, fat, used-up husband, and that, instead, wives should flirt with and leer at the proper objects of their lust - young guys, also in states of sexy undress?
What's good for the gander, right? Is better for the goose!
So, now that there is a great, rich class of females out there, let's start the counterpart to Hooters today! Dickies!
After all, childrens' proper education is at risk!

Common Sense, Values, Poverty, Nancy Grace, Mommy Mafia, Sales and The Fifth Amendment and Media, Nutrition and Empathy

I had hoped this was in the past, alas, but Classism as well as Racism, is still thriving in America today

On watching Nancy Grace's highly inflammatory show which I do not recommend, by the way, there was a segment on a black mother who was almost starving, keeping her two kids with her as best she could, who snapped and killed her three-year-old son while attempting to get him to be quiet, probably so they would not be thrown out onto the street, using an old southern training technique of giving vinegar to children. We cannot condemn an individual in these circumstances that we all, as a society that tolerates poverty for so many millions of women and kids, when they snap. At the least we need to display some empathy for the entire situation and to see it clearly - and to correct its' cause.

Governments Mandating Poverty

Why is it that all civilized nations, stressing civilized, like Sweden, only employ - and yes, they're supposed to work for the people - governments that ensure the wellfare of all its' citizens, bar none, while America seems smugly content to over-prosper the already rich and are completely willing to let everyone else struggle and die in poverty?

Empathy for Madonna Figures along with Children?

Children receive the lions' share of empathy in these bad mommying cases, while the mother receives only vilification and hatred. Fathers fare much better, sadly.

Where is the empathy for that mother, who was clearly duped by TV's constant ploy of pushing women to breed and probably by her family whose "misery loves company" attitude had also forced her to feel she needed to have children in order to keep their love.

Then, of course, they threw her out.

She's clearly unable to manage life, was terrified of letting her kids go to foster homes, as we all are, having seen shows like Nancy Grace continuously feeding us fearfulness.

Yellow Journalism

Naturally, the odds are that all kids will be OK wherever they are, but the focus in our society - or at least in the media - is to keep us all hopped-up on adrenalin-fueled fight and flight stress, thinking something horrible happens to every individual.

Why?

Fear sells. Fear compels humans to watch these werid but exciting shows and the Mommy Mafia audiences, led by attack dog, Nancy Grace, always go for the throats of the mommies who cannot afford nannies, unlike themselves, and who can barely eat.
Ask yourself: why is it that the fifth amendment only benefits the salespeople who shovel garbage into society in the name of "business", despite the poisoning of the minds of the victims, the viewers? Yes, the poor do not have a DVR ability to rush through ads or to choose better programming, so they're trapped in this way too.

Nutrition

Bad food - fast, cheap food - the only kind available to people like this mother and her kids - is known to induce psychotic behavior - especially white flour, empty carbs, too much salt, and the main murderous culprit - sugar.

No doubt the sugary food given the three-year-old victim contributed to his incessant hyper-activity, and along with alcohol and other drugs, sugar has led to more murders than any other substance known to man.

And what of the pesky hormones that can have a beefy, scary celebrity like Brooke Shields become a Mommy Mafia darling after having confessed she'd wanted to kill her children due to lack of hormonal therapy?

Where was this woman's health care?

Shelter or Adopting?

They on the TV from their lofty positions mete out vengeful anti-justice at all who fall short of their own glorified lives.

Not only are women and children deathly afraid of being parted for any reason, whether they get along or not, which brings us to black and white - see below - but there is love, the religiosity that implores us to strive to do better even while falling apart, and she was clearly seeking help from the church.

Does this count for anything with them?

Hell, no.

And then the yuppies yelled out how cute he was and how "millions" would have wanted to adopt him.

Give me a break! Speak the truth once in a while! There are literally billions of unwanted children - mainly dark-skinned non-babies - in dire need and no one wants to adopt them!!!

And they recited a litany of shelters where this mother and kids supposedly could have gone.

Can any of those bestial yuppie mothers who are so hellbent on condemning the poor imagine what her live - their lives - must have been like?

I'd love to see how fast that Nancy Grace would have snapped in the same situation.

Pretty damned fast, I say.

Black and Whiteism

Nothing in life is black and white. She suffered a rage killing and was clearly out of her mind, at least termporarily,

Not only in racial terms, but in the refusal to see gray areas, this communal put-down of the poor is not only racist but also class prejudicial.

I'll start the term, "classism" since it seems to be on the rise. We basically have a caste system already in America, in case you haven't looked around in awhile.

Why judge this woman on one junk-food-fueled desperate attempt, probably, to stop the little child from driving her crazy and to impose a little peace on their lives?

Maybe she was being threatened by the roommate about his noise-making and was trying to keep the roof over their heads.

Maybe shaking him was how things got out of hand.

We cannot walk in her shoes, but compassion should allow us to at least imagine the panic, the extreme situations of life and death they faced with everyday survival and, yes, the horrible guilt she doubtless suffers now over the missing her tiny, cute son.

Did anyone else think of this? The child carried around with her in her bag could have meant she cared and had no place to properly bury him yet

I am not defending her, I am saying that all poverty-stricken - remember they were stricken by it - no one thinks they'll end up there or plans for it - people live in panic, and far too many die in it.

The gray areas are where true life is lived.

And that is where fairness and justice, common sense, and empathy live.

How about not just being a child advocate. How about being an advocate for all people? And even beyond?

How about caring for each individual caught in poverty with poor nutrition and in constant worry and stress?

I was waiting for the next TCM film and for the ads to finish on CNN just now - 8:08 EST, July 22, 2010, when I flipped through a few channels, and was shocked to see women of no conscience and no consequence pawing over some ugly snakeskin shoes!
Where have these Jerry Springer women been?
Don't they realize the entire world is being beseiged right now by special interest people who market cruelty to people, and that the hip and cool women had long since abandoned any cruelty items as completely unfashionable?
How unchic can ABC get?
I, for one, will not be watching their channel again, let alone their tediously boring Early Show.
Upset over whether some shoes had real python skin on them, these old-fashioned harpies apparently had no qualm about killing snakes for their skin, or about wearing dead bodies on their feet.
What kind of man would be turned on by those shoes? Worthless old creeps only.
Normal men are scared by women who totter around on heels that look like weapons!
Those weird women on ABC obviously only dress for shock value.
No wonder they're so desperate! Why don't they wear red lights on their heads instead? It's just as ridiculous.
Want to be hot? Buy from cool companies like these!
Gorgeous chicks only wear compassionate shoes.
How to find chic, compassionate eco clothing?
I shop in all kinds of stores, with the foremost thought to be whether shoes are made with animal skin or with man-made faux "pleather" materials.
If I like the design, who cares about the label?
What kind of stupid person would wear a certain label rather than follow their own sense of style and ethics? Isn't it the height of stupidity to wear something merely because of the designer's name?
Isn't this the 21st century? Are all the morons on the ABC Early Show in the nineteen fifties?
What happened to fashion enlightenment and chic?
Beauty is as beauty does.
Think for yourself. Find your own way and make it Compassion First - which, of course, will save our world - and the dogs that are routinely fed to these giant snakes to fatten them up.
So when you wear snakeskin, you are killing innocent dogs who cry pitiably, knowing full well what will happen. Did you know it's a very slow, painful crushing death they suffer?
Do you care?
Think about it.
Think about the world.
Think about the horrible people who trap or breed these hapless ankes and keep them in deplorable conditions - or even worse - who give a show to crowds who revel in watching whimpering dogs be fed to hungry pythons.
Think of all the activists and all the decades it had taken for America finally to pass laws protecting endangered species and laws protecting all animals from cruelty.
And then see what you're doing - by-passing these laws to buy from ruthless companies who don't care about cruelty to innocents, our world, endangered species or anything sacred.
Do you really want to support the destruction of our world?
Of dogs?
Don't you at least care about dogs?

Racism Equals The Tea Party

Despite the handful of token blacks who've been brainwashed, paid, or otherwise manipulated into lying (a la Stockholm syndrome), or perhaps those to whom only finances like stocks matter,the truth is this - The Tea Party is a Racist Organization, Period.

Think of it - if they'd depicted a woman in office as a porno star, for instance, with skimpy or no clothing, trashy outfits (even more trashy that Sarah Palin's outrageously strippered-out spike heels), or, if they'd depicted a Mexican with a bandito sombrero outfit, a grizzled grin, and criss-crossed bullet straps, what do you think would have happened?

Even a chihuahua on Taco Bell's ads caused such a stir and calls of "racism" a few years ago that I'm surprised that there hasn't yet been a nation or world-wide outrage against the completely white group of right-winger reactionaries known as The Tea Party.

Why don't we all form a party of our own?
The sane among us.
The fair people.
The enlightened ones.
Call it The Coffee Party!

Think of all the shades of skin that would love to be represented there, from cafe au lait to darkest, richest brown.

We need an antidote to this party - one that reflects us all - all the whites who are outraged at The Tea Party, and at the Republicans in general!

The best thing is to join and become active with the Democratic Party!

If you find things you want improved, then let's get busy and improve things within the only good political party we have - The Democratic Party!

Jean Simmons, the mesmerizingly brilliant actress of many of the finest movies ever made, has gone from this plane, but for the wonderful films she has left us.

I could not help crying.

Not only do I adore her in every role I've ever seen - and yes, I may not know the names of any current actors or actresses, but I, a constant TCM viewer, know all the real stars - but I know someone personally whom she has helped in times of need.

She is - was - as noble a person in real life as were the heroines that only she could play, like Varinia, the wife of Spartacus in Kirk Douglas' pivotal film, Spartacus.

Were you aware that all the filmmakers had chosen Spartacus as the best film ever made?

I hadn't known that when I, as a child, had selected it as my favorite of all time, and it still - largely due to the timelessness of Jean Simmon's enchantingly haunting portrayal of the slave heroine - stands as the very best ever made.

If you've never yet been lucky enough to have seen one of Jean Simmon's great films, do so now, and experience the agelessness of time, the irreplaceable aspects of otherworldliness and femininity that she brought effortlessly to the screen, and to film history.

A generous person in real life, she exuded qualities that we would like to think had applied to some of our beloved historical figures. Whether or not the reality fit the glamorously beautiful ideal that Simmon's portrayed or not, I'm sure the actual historical heroines would have given everything just to look like Jean Simmons, and Spartacus, who in actuality did not, or at least we don't know, have a wife, but if he had, he would certainly have won that revolt just to be able to be with someone so divinely gorgeous and regal.

Rent Spartacus and go back in time as you fall into instant belief in romance, heroism, and tragedy as you watch the unforgettable Jean Simmons.

Below is from the Daily Telegraphs' Homage to Jean Simmons:

"As writer and film historian Alan K Rode said when her agent announced she had died on Friday at her Santa Monica home after a long illness: ''Jean's jaw-dropping beauty often obscured a formidable acting talent...

Sky Saxon and Arthur Lee - R.I.P.

I can't believe I just heard of Sky Saxon's transcention - I'll use his own beliefs, since he was a truly cosmic soul and a huge force, as was Arthur Lee, in music.
All our music.
From the mid sixties, these two giants weren't household names, but both were pivotal in the ovement music took.
Simple turns of fate brought both of these remarkable talents to less-than-famous paths and weirdly, both died while in plans for new come-back tours.
In case you're either too arrogant, if you're musicians, to look back and to know the originators of the music we all play now or in case you're not into music, Arthur Lee was the lead singer and guitarist of Love and Sky Saxon was the leader and singer of The Seeds.
Look up their music, and, in the case of Sky Saxon, who was a fruititarian and an advanced soul, his life philosophy.
Both very cool icons who deserve to be applauded posthumously.
And I think they'll both hear us.

On Twitter, only a sentence to sum up one's whole self - one's life.

Fragmented, shattered, streamlined, and that's what we all are - in the end, at least - on our tombstones, if we're lucky enough to have one - it might read only stats, like name, and dates between which we'd once existed.

Meanwhile, we live between the fragments flung outward into the internetted abyss for whomever to view, to care, to share, observe, judge, like, dislike, follow, take up, drop, commiserate, and so on - but mainly in order to self-promote.

Everyone's selling something, even if only ideas - peddling maybe only thoughts - like bubbles - popping off to no one and to everyone at once.

Who's listening? No one. We're all too busy expressing ourselves.

Human Overpopulation Becomes Even More Unmanageable

Today is a day of mourning.

Mourning for all the people who will die as a consequence - most of them children, babies, for the places that will become deserts due to tree-felling, for the water, now clear, that will soon become rank. Today, the announcement has come that human overpopulation in America has reached the mark of that of the height of the baby booming year of 1957, meaning that we are now, officially, spiraling very quickly downward toward hellish life conditions and world destruction - UNLESS - and only unless - most start to opt-out of breeding. I have. I have taken the Child-Free Pledge to stay child-free and/or adopt. I can't understand why we, at this point in our history, are not, if not outright ostracizing and even throwing things, at least draping the homes in black of people who choose to have more babies in a world that is overrun by human overpoulation already.

In a world where most children starve every day of their lives worldwide, suffer untold misery in their short lives, and wish that someone in a developed nation would adopt them.

This is so sad - sad for us - if you think you feel crowded now, look out - watch as every year churns out even more drivers on the road, even more self-centeredness, even more desperation, even more rudeness, and all the other negatives that overpoulation always brings.

Get ready for dire weather warnings, due to the turmoil of ever-growing, ever-advancing stampedes of people grabbing land, tearing down trees, and spoiling the waterways - after all - our planet is our only nest, and you know what you're not supposed to do in your own nest, right ?

But just being alive is going to make sewage, make despoilation, make pollution grow.

And one child in a developed nation usurps the energy and resources that literally thousands of children use up in undeveloped nations.

So do not rejoice when you hear of someone's pregnancy.

Ask them instead, "How could you? Are you really that uncaring a person ?"

Then ask them, "Do you have ample - and I mean very ample - resources to keep that child in case you can't work, die, or break up with your support ? Because why should we- as a society - pick up the check for your unbridled selfishness ?"

Then ask your government - "Please take out tax penalties on people who breed. "

And get active.

Stay child-free if you are so lucky.

Date only those guys who are cool enough to get a vasectomy.

If you do make a mistake, own up to it. Do the right thing. (Don't think of abortion - let someone adopt your kid.)

Use at LEAST two forms of contraception at all times, and do not drink while on a date. Stay lucid.

And adopt by all means, if you can or if you feel a need to parent.

And wake up others to the realities of life now - not of life two thousand years ago !

Anti-Rand Rant - Ayn Rand, There Is No Virtue In Selfishness

OK.

Having watched the Colbert Report, and realized that there are actually nut-cases out there who think that the weirdo, repressed he-woman, Ayn Rand, had any points at all, except those in her brain-damaged head, I have to weigh in on this.

There is no virtue in selfishness. Well, there is to the evil among us, but in civilized society, among the moral, the religious, the sane, the normal people, caringness for everyone takes precedence.

Rand was an embittered woman, unappealing, most likely attempting to gain the attention of a remote father, or to be the son he'd wanted, a twisted person who, in the time of great national suffering, during which, as now, there were not enough jobs or resources for most people, she would smugly decide that others didn't deserve anything - a dog-eat-dogism - and that the successful ( oh, please, don't resurrect the old God pre-ordained blessings on his chosen thing! ), merely work harder...where is concern for others ? Has the human overpopulation crisis already caused this level of hatred for the under-productive ?

Which brings us to the point about which all this Ayn Randism has been dug out of a moldering grave to prop up the conservatives' notions about unfairness to them - the Obama campaign to bail out the mortgage holders. After all, who else do they have who would openly espouse selfishness as a virtuous thing to endorse (except for the odious pustule named Rush Limbaugh )? Why else would the hyper-conventional (they all dress alike ) Conservatives come out en masse for this extremely odd and subversive female writer ? Ordinarily they'd shun her like they would all other bohemian types!

First of all - if you own your own home, you're not desperate.

Why not help the ones who really need it? The renters?

These home-owners - many of whom heeded those stupid late-night ads and land-grabbed to the tune of, as in my neighbor's case, owning in excess of hundreds of rental properties - are not the desperate ones. I cannot tell you how many vacant homes I see every day in the beach areas. The Bush-men had given tax breaks to the greedy ones who wanted not one but TWO homes - and why not force these second homes to be offered (at a Federally-mandated low rate ) as rental properties for those who need homes?

This is a bail out to stabilize the banks, and the middle-grubbers in between them and the consumers, the mortgage industry creeps. The bottom-feeders who have the nerve to look down upon workers - whose industries have been closed down or moved to other countries ! Where is the sympathy and help for them ? The American Worker doesn't even have unions any more!

Oh, where is F.D.R. when we need him again ? Would that he, like Arthur, could return - but NOT Ayn Rand!

I, like many who voted Obama in, am not thrilled about many things the new administration is doing, but this is a move that should have the Repubs clicking their collective (Fascist) heels together!

It's giving money to the banks, essentially, which may or may not get to them if it's given to homeowners instead.

This could be good for stabilizing the economy, but it will do nothing to help the ones who sorely need help in this economy - those without jobs, without homes, renters, and so on.

I just cannot cry over those who own homes when so many others, less advantaged, are in trouble.

Why not choose another novelist to quote ? Let's go for Steinbeck now, at least, since he cared about the ordinary man - the masses - the disenfranchised - the elderly - the hungry kids - the single parents - the less-abled - the poor.

Most of our historical fiction is just that - fiction.

Even on The History Channel, so much so-called history is factually inaccurate, that I suggest that everyone do what I do - research the subjects and find out the real truth. It makes these histories more enjoyable and we should all teach kids to research facts.

It will make them learn to think and not to just take what they hear and see without a grain of salt.

The old adage to believe half of what you see and none of what you hear is a good byword for life - especially in historical movies !

For instance, in the film, "The Other Boleyn Girl", they made what were really two girls put forth as concubines by their family, as was common in those days, into rivals, bitches, and they reversed many facts about them.

Writers and Writing - Article by Ocean

Most of us write something on something. Even if it’s raging graffiti or just angsty scribblings of expression or even stick-figuring to let your feelings vent most of us write. Even to stab at the ground with a twig is writing. Or even air writing to trace the stars at night. We primates are fingery and holdy about things in our fingers and our fingers are the routes out from the triggers fired off in the brain, so… don’t let anyone tell you he or she doesn’t write. We all do.

And even before “writing” was invented, we wrote and talked and these noises and vocalizations somehow meandered through eternity fueled by our emotions and found a way out through those limbs down to the old fingers and the famous opposing thumb. Alphabets aside, thinking in words and pictures are the same thing since words stand in for both emotions and for pictures for places and events and for imaginary worlds and airy inventions that haven’t found creation yet.

Writing is cool, essentially.All animals do it but maybe not as formally as we do.We’ve compartmentalized ourselves into a neat little package of beliefs that are unsubstantiated where we’re always the center of everything. The other animals sit around and wonder at it, I’m sure.

Anyway, they all express themselves to. Throwing coconuts down onto a meanie’s head is as much writing as is a headline of the New York Times. Head-butting just as much writing as War and Peace. And a crow squawking on a fence is as much writing as is 50-cent giving out with diatribes as is the Guernica as is Woody Guthrie twanging as is Hemingway’s The Sun Also Rises.

Degrees are the only difference and I just mean – open your mind and notice what a weird thing writing really is, and how cool.

That a feeling can find it’s way to being into the mind and clothe itself in a made-up picture and into a thought and into a word and into a way to communicate that word.

Writing is the way out of a lot of things. The pen is mightier than the sword and so many wars and revolutions have been started with just a little written dynamite that the power of the word really speaks for itself – and loudly. Or softly.

Even though people who never learn to read have way better memories than those who learn to depend on written words, reading still bestows a wealth of experience – a way of mind-reading and time-traveling and understanding that few of the ones who still don’t know how to read would not envy.

To wield the pencil is to hold power in one’s hand, but to make abstract symbols on paper come alive is quite another thing. The magi among us, the shamans and shamanesses like, for instance, Toni Morrison, who’s captivating power of words ensnared me when I first picked up one of her books somewhere and read only a few lines can literally create worlds through words. Words that literally climbed out of the page and coalesced into a vine, a living thing, strung with colors and images and wound themselves around my mind and my soul. She is a master.

There are only a few real masters in, of, any element, and their charisma and skill is well beyond that of ordinary mortals.I want to commend them here. To honor and applaud them and to turn you onto them. Beware their wicked spells, because they really are capable of awesome things.

Something is at work in our universe that grows out of a certain type of fecundity of spirit. Great writers and other artists have this and it’s far more than mere talent. And works have their own lives to lead. They express themselves. Who knows? Maybe they choose their own vehicles and not the other way around. It certainly feels that way at times.

I like to write songs, but really, I compose music, and the melodies just sort of create themselves - they just appear in my mind. And the lytics, too, sort of create themselves and I merely give them expression. Writing is fun on subjects I enjoy, and I don’t include myself in this secret tribe of shamen, by the way, and I advocate it for everyone. We can’t all be geniuses but thankfully we can all enjoy their artistry. I’m going to have this page for links to writings and info on some masters I really admire.

I’ve gone into other worlds and have been transformed by the magic of many of these writers, so…I’d like to share the secrets of their existence with you. Some are ultra-famous still, others more obscure. I may not keep up with every writer on the new horizons but whenever a book falls into my hand, or an article, and when it begins a life of its’ own, unbidden, I know I’ve stumbled again upon a magician, so..

I have so many favorite authors – too many to name, but I’ll spotlight a few here. Some are enormously known and some need to be recognized more.Every life is an adventure, and some of these heroes of mine led amazingly interesting lives. Without that sense of adventure, who’d want to read their ideas anyway ?

The tedious lists of people writing even best-sellers who know absolutely nothing about life don’t interest me any more than do the makers of recipe films or music. In this day of blogdom, everyone writes who can grab onto a laptop. It’s no great feat to string words together in imitative ways or through formulas learned at school.The geniuses still exist, though, who can stir the blood of people seated in easy chairs.This gift is still a marvel, and I’ll focus on the ones I think should be applauded as I continue to find more heroes to exalt in this little Pantheon of mine.

It's Only Valentine's Now, So Why Am I Already Having Spring Fever ?

It's in the cosmic atmosphere.

I can just feel it.

Spring is on the way !

Even when, as I usually do, living in the tropics or in the sub-tropics at least, a type of Winter exists, but it's really more than whether the weather has behaved well or not, more than the cold factor - it's our planetary connection to the seasons, to the turning of our own orb, to the placement of the moon - at night, now, I can hardly sleep - the full moon has been reflected in my pool outside, and the double glow of moon and mirror has been so intense, plus the countless reflections of the sea, just outside - I sleep with the curtains drawn - I must know the night sky and the stars are in view - has made the most beauteous flourescent violet light !

So, just lying around and sighing, like some Romantic poet, has been my reaction of late, to the impossibly gorgeous days, with butterflies flitting around each other in circles, couples, in love, talking intimately, no doubt, about how wonderful life is, and newborn leaves coming in, and night-blooming jasmine spreading its' irrepressable charms through a perfume that lures us outside just to breathe it in heady draughts ! What must it do to the moths ?

Night and day, the spells cast by the early Spring is almost too much to bear !

Errands ? Put 'em off!

Chores ? For bores !

Just lying in the clover, gazing up at fleecy clouds is enough - for now.

Soon, the reckless, tumbling tumult of full Springtime will arrive, and even at a far off coast, I'll be thinking of the roar of mountain streams, rushing down through valleys and meadows of tender wildflowers, strewn in enormous blankets, along Colorado's hillsides, of buttercups emerging in wild fields all over the South, of Nesturtiums covering my homeland of California.

I miss it all. Does God use his power like I would ? Does He walk, unnoticed, among each and every country, enjoying His every flower - every field - every tree in blossom ?

Travel is the best we'll ever do. Traveling, and remembering.

Appreciate every day !

Dogs Deserve Better

Please pray for all those who are affected by the cold, and find ways to help.

So many have lost their jobs, and so many of our elderly cannot afford heating costs. Ask someone in, offer them a meal, a warm room, an over-night stay...buy some wild bird feed or sprinkle whole grain bread crumbs for the birdies and squirrels and chipmunks...put a cardboard box with bedding in it for a stray cat with some food...ask neighbors to put their dogs inside for the duration - I've bought many igloo dog houses with bedding for hapless doggies who must endure living outside. You can make dog houses out of crates and other materials... and very sweetly offer them to someone who's dog is living outside.

Just some ideas!

On ABC news this morning, I heard someone report - completely erroneously - that some American had pioneered the practice of creating methane gas for energy usage from landfill refuse.

My family's country, Sweden, has been using this form of energy for all governmental vehicles for over a decade!

Give credit where credit it due!

Also, the irritating reports, constantly giving children the idea that the Wright Brothers had invented planes is also wrong - airplanes were invented in Germany!

Why is this ego-centrism that certain Americans have adopted so well perpetuated by the news teams ? Is is that they do not hire well-educated people who spend time, as they well should, researching subjects before they hand the papers to the anchorpeople for them to read on air?

I'm not sure, but the History Channel is also a body of not-quite-accurate reporting.

Many of their shows are quality productions - mainly, the ones produced elsewhere, like in Britain, but where is the scholarship in America ?

Plenty of wonderfully-educated people live here, are educated here, and probably apply for jobs in these media outposts, but why are they not allowed to function as real historians would - by mining for the truth of stories before they're presented to a huge audience ?

Responsibility to the kids who learn from these emissions from conglomerate-owned entities should be tantamount to profit.

Sound bites, disclaimers, brevity, and streamlining aside - still, they could research the accuracy of their reports ( not just consume the press releases of profit-hungering people like the man who claims to have "invented" the landfill fuel idea, for instance ), and they could give us, the people, the truth - or as close as they can ever come to it.

Come on, History Channel and News Teams - research first, THEN report !

And why do you suppose that the elephant in the room - human overpopulation - is studiously ignored by all the news, all the media, and everyone else?
Is it mere courage?

Imagine the globe from afar. Notice that even if a relatively small population or even half of the world's population was all of us that existed, then the planet could still function on the way we now pollute.
Conversely, if an enormous population of humans, such as actually does exist today, only polluted in the way they did a hundred years ago, notice that the world could not sustain the pollution of so many people, largely due to the constant destruction to our world habitat, the constant felling of trees for wood, for building materials and for food, and as the population would steadily increase if unabated universally, the world would still be in the fix it is in now.

Over six billion now, what do you think the population will be in ten years?

Some have the mistaken notion that to care for other animals is to not care about human animals.

We haven't yet seen many articles having the human rights subject,
and yet all of us are animals.

At heart, the issues all lead to the same thing - compassion is the only cure.

The animal rights activists stand very firmly on the compassionate
issues for human beings too.

To be compassionate is to extend that compassion to every being, including
those of our own specie.

We are all one.

There are many, many organizations that help humans - although none is doing enough. However - at the same time that they help, most are helping in ways that will not sustain nurturance of these hungry populations or change things,
and they are doing so using cruelty measures that introduce even more problems and continue to ruin the planet's environmental systems.

We must stand up for many different issues all at once. Win-win situations heal.

We, as an animal rights activists, combine all of the compassionate measures into o ne overall healing measure, into o ne world plan.

The drive toward Ecoizing , toward Veganizing, toward Spiritualizing, and
toward Humanizing is all the same drive, when viewed clearly.

The cure for the entire planet is compassion.

How? How does it lead to saving the starving people in Africa?

Compassion lets us understand that all these issues are vitally related:

Stopping pesticides and grazing and halting the meat industry will stop huge amounts of air, water, and land pollution, and growing grain can easily feed everyone o n earth.

Eating and living compassionately heals not only the spirit, but creates
sanity and receptivity in the mind and the emotions, supplying adequate nutrition,
vitamins, and all the requirements of health for humanity.

This spirituality will open the doors to great rapport between nations and
individuals of different cultures, and we will find solutions that bridge
the gaps beteen the haves and the have-nots.

Adopting rather than bearing children will not o nly create a human population
that the planet can live with, but it will create a spiritual enlightenment
among people, and will take care of all the children that are now starving
in the world.

Education and adequate birth control will help tremendously.

Vasectomies should be rewarded and popularized, for instance.

To do more than a band-aid-like gesture, and something to make the developed nations feel good, extreme changes will be necessary.

Every year, there is great need in many regions of the world for the human
populations, and the Western nations, who traditionally used to send grain,
now do not have the grain to send, due to the fact that the meat industry
has taken over the land, the commerce, and the culture, and not enough people
demonstrate that they care.

Also, as the humans continue to overpopulate, and as disease casualties continue to rise, those in the more stable areas continue to embrace apathy.

The problems are immense.

The cures are enormously challenging, and yet, if we do actually love humanity, the world, the other species, and ourselves, we will need to start right now
to change the world, and choose to be Compassionate with our food!

We’ve been urged to over-consume by all those wishing to profit o n
our excesses.

Especially in America, land of the corralled buyers, we’re bombarded
with ads, so-called studies, and other propagandistic promo that forces us
to believe that o n a simple sandwich, piles and piles of goo and heart-killing
fats and death foods are mandatory.

Actually, have you ever tried a sprout sandwich?

Yes, a sandwich with, maybe, Veganaise, or a dash of Bragg’s Liquid
Aminos, or just some simple organic olive oil and Bragg’s Apple Cider
Vinegar and a little Celtic Sea Salt?

It’s not o nly completely filling, but it allows your digestive system
to operate, unclogged-up with all those extra and body-arresting cruelty foods
you’ve been lied to about.

You don’t need all that protein. In fact, it harms your kidneys, in
addition to causing all your energy to be centered in your gut, where the
blood is pulled in its’ desperate daily task of doing something with
all that garbage and those dead bodies you keep throwing into it.

Also, just the toxins in those death foods will lead to, well, you know.

Along with the hormones, the adrenaline, and the blobs of fat your bloodstream
will be having to deal with, while it navigates through your weakened veins
in an attempt to rid itself of these things your body was never designed to
manage, you place heavy burdens o n your vehicle, in addition to burdens o n
your soul.

Just like you can’t fool Mother Nature, you can’t fool yourself.

Inside, you know right from wrong.

You know that taking advantage of the weak by the strong is evil.

You know that taking the life from an innocent and helpless being is against
everything you’d like to believe about yourself.

You know that you cannot divide your morality.

Either you’re good, and you do good to all of the helpless, or you are
without mercy, and evil.

Those things are simple.
Your mind and your heart knows it, and your soul feels it.

Rid yourself of those putrid and dead corpses you’ve buried in your
own body, cleanse them out by eating o nly compassionate, pure plant foods,
and then gauge how you feel after o ne month.

Even after o ne compassionate meal, like that sprout sandwich o n toasted sprouted
grain bread, like Ezekial bread, found in the freezer of your health food
store, then see how you feel.

Add a cup of miso soup, if you like, with some fresh cut-up garlic, and maybe
a few cubes of tofu and a handful of freshly chopped herbs.

Divine!

Also, add a glass of stevia with ginger powder and/or cinnamon – doubly
divine!

Finish with a cup of green tea, and you have a meal fit for royalty!

When you stop eating like a sewer and clogging your system like a stopped-up
drain, you’ll feel tremendously better and your body will find time
in order to heal and to repair those above-mentioned weakening veins, along
with all your other systems.

You’ll begin not o nly to feel better, but to look better too!

Win-win-win-win situation!

You become kind, you eat kindness foods, you feel great, and you look great! You live longer, stay fit and able, youthful-looking, and happy too!

Wealth comes in many forms.

For instance, I always feel so rich when I am surrounded by my rescued pets.

And I recall times when, as a child, I had wished with all my heart that
I could have pets that could be indoors, and as many as I wanted.

I am very wealthy with pets, which makes me very wealthy with love.

Most of us are very wealthy with many things – like, someone I know
is very wealthy with perfumes.

Some are wealthy with cars, with tools, with collections of all kinds.

Some are wealthy with a beautiful abundance of trees right outside.
Others are wealthy with shoes, or books, or with popularity, or with long, lovely hair !

Lots are wealthy with art supplies. What ? We can go to any store and find
them for a pittance, you might say, but think of the days when so many artistic
and struggling geniuses abounded who would almost have sold their own souls
for some good art supplies.

When you learn to slant the angle of your view of life to include all you
have and have had, you’ll find that you are – and always have
been – wealthy indeed.

Even the Pygmies of the Great Forest in Africa - who own next to nothing in actual items - know they are very lucky, and very wealthy. They consider themselves children of the forest itself,
and pride themselves o n acting in harmony with their provider.

Can you imagine someone of the Western nations saying he or she was the child
of the plains? Of the swamplands ? Of the mountains ?

Besides hippies, I mean. And Native Americans. And sages and mystics and cosmic people.
Of course, any bohemian worth his or her salt agrees with this. And others.
Any surfer will agree that he is the child of the coast and the sea, for sure.

Why not adopt this feeling, this claim, that you are lucky – that you belong in a world of abundance, and that you were born with wealth and will o nly live in wealth no matter what.

One o nly has to recognize it. It really is – for most of us in the
West, at least, true.

One should never compare o neself, except to find gratitude for o ne’s
position.

The attitude of gratitude we hear about is the surest way to happiness and
contentment, therefore, to confidence, a feeling of safety, and the ability
to succeed.

I'm also delighted to be instrumental in showing people how to get healthy by going vegan!

I love to contribute my talents in order to help - I think it's the essence of happiness, and I adore being healthy, being vegan, and being compassionate.

I'm posting here since I already have a quasi-political blog I was asked to keep at Ecoize.com, named Ocean's Ocean, and I also do the Mermaid Blog, which is a fantasy tale ( and connected to an epic trilogy I have written called The Mers ), and this one is various musings, ideas, moods, and so on, so it's fun !

I like to think of ideas to help people, as I do on sites where I contribute articles on everything from living eco to helping animals (including us), vegan recipes, my own travel adventures, on being a musician, being a fan of classic films, being in love with history, into anthropology and other cultures, art, design, illustration, stories, and writing, among many other interests.

How do I find the time to follow so many interests, I ask myself. And I know that only because I'm vegan do I have such energy!

I don't do just one thing ever - for instance, I have two books I'm writing now at the same time!

Also I am doing a series of paintings on a certain theme for a show.

And, of course, I do my music very often - meaning I produce tunes I write, and/or sing somewhere.

I have a real interest in making life better for everyone (of all species), and every place, than it would have been if I had not been born.

I have been in mourning for a few years now, for someone very close to me.

I am not always sunshiny, and sometimes my poetry is the best way to vent feelings of loss.

I had gone to a place, in a Northern clime, where once I had lived, and was reminded what Winter really is.

I feel for all you who are experiencing the extreme cold - whether of the weather alone or from the loss of a loved one.

The Tiny Butterfly by Ocean

The Tiny Butterfly - Article by Ocean

I"m wintering on a tropical island, and this week is very unseasonably cold.

The wind had blown a tiny, beautiful butterfly into the pool, and, as I do every morning, I had walked around to see if any moths, bees, or other bugs had fallen or been blown into the water.

This morning, I had already saved one bee and several little gnats, and then, out of the window, I noticed a little form - a very small butterfly, lying on the face of the pool, his wings completely spread out.

I ran outside, got the long net, and pulled him out to safety.

I placed him first on a bunch of dry grass, then noticed he was too water-logged to stand properly, so I placed him in the path of the upcoming sun.

Butterflies need sunshine in order to dry their wings in the mornings, from dew and mist, and this little guy needed it to warm him and to save his life.

I watched him for awhile, stood him up, his wings still closed tightly - held together by the wetness, and talked to him sweetly.

Then I went inside, knowing that ants and other predators were in their burrows, hiding from the biting wind.

His wings were blown about a little, but his spindly legs kept him holding onto the pavement around the pool, but not near enough so that he'd be blown in again.

Returning inside, I kept my dogs in, despite their pleas to go out and play, and have been watching him from the window, watching over him.

As I stood there, I prayed earnestly for this gorgeous little being - so intelligent and sweetly demonstrative - he knew I was helping him - and asked God to allow the sun to shine on him.

How miserable so many are in this cold weather!

I couldn't imagine how awful it would be to get wet on a day like this.

I asked Him to send holy angels to surround and protect the little butterfly and afford him plenty of flowers and a happy, safe life.

Then, suddenly, the sunshine burst through the clouds, aiming their beaming light exactly at the place where the little creature of God stood, stawartly, bravely against the cold wind!

The flood of gratitude I felt was so intense1 Prayers said for someone who is so helpless feed our souls, and the immediate answer re-affirmed my faith!

God does answer prayers! Especially those for the helpless beings among us!

Imagine a world without butterflies! How empty it would be!

I hope everyone remembers to buy eco, especially for their yards and gardens, and to plant butterfly gardens in order to attract them and to give them a habitat that is, sadly, disappearing in too many places.

It's far more important to have natural, pesticide-free lawns for so many reasons!

Our waterways, and all the lives dependent upon them, are most vulnerable to what people put on their yards, and really, isn't it far more beautiful to have a natural yard? With bushes, plants, and trees that butterflies and other wildlife adore?

There are so many eco products now, that will not ruin our world, and will allow little enchanting beings like that butterfly to thrive !

Think Green!

I just checked, and my little butterfly pal is turning in the sunshine, allowing its' healing warmth to adorn his wings from all angles, preparing for flight.

Many butterflies only live for a few days. Even the magnificent Tiger Swallowtails have only two weeks to enjoy the flowers, meet their soulmate, dance in the sunlight, and lay eggs in the right habitat.

My friend outside will live, now, perhaps only three to four days, or a little longer.

Information on his exact lifespan couldn't be found on the internet. He's a Flulvous Hairstreak butterfly.

He's adorable, fetching, communicative, and decorative, as all beauteous beings are, and he brings joy wherever he is.

After all, butterflies do no harm - they eat only the pollen that flowers beg to offer them, they dance in the sunshine to the delight of all humans, and they help, along with bees, to pollinate the next generation of plants.

They must be very popular with God.

Don't we all want more, not less, butterflies?

Let's practice conservation and get our priorities right! Butterflies and the plants they love are far more important than having a boring-looking, plain, green lawn.

Ditch the pesticides and make way for eco products!

Vive the butterflies!

It might not have been the most optimal time to have been born. Far more cold than a butterfly would prefer, much more windy. And more precious, when we recall how huge a part of his life each hour is.

Each day is, to him, more than a decade of our own lives.

None of us can rail against our own time zone, although we, as humans, and only us, can improve life for everyone on our planet, no matter what specie.

The tiny butterfly has flown. He took off into the bright, mid-morning light and is off finding seagrape trees and other fare, frolicing somewhere in the air, happy to be alive.

His pressence makes all of us happy to be alive - this is the gift of the butterflies.

And how many could be saved every day if all of us looked in pools to do some life-saving?

Every life matters, no matter how small.

What can we all do every day to save lives?

Just ideas, thoughts, and meanderings. I keep a fantasy blog here: http://www.MermaidBlog.com, and this one is just light and musy, as in just musing.

I'm a hyper-creative, meaning that I love creating in many ways, almost every day.

Music is my soul - I mean - it's the one thing I reverence doing more than anything else (except for saving lives, as in my animal rescuing - that's the height of existence and spiritual ecstasy, just to know that my presence has caused an innocent being to live) - and music is so close to me that I literally weep in gratitude that I'm allowed to make music.

Nothing else of all I create does that for me.

I also write a lot, and books and stories just seem to pour out of me like music does, easily, with no effort at all on my part.

I'm not sure why this happens, but it's cool unless I'm busy - then I have to put a song on tape or stop and get out my portable typewirter or laptop for writings.

Artwork is something else I enjoy, and it's not as intense an activity for me. I do it mainly because others love what I do so much that they've clamored and fostered and encouraged me all my life to create paintings, drawinga and whatever.

I'm a singer and a songwriter. I also produce, write, and create artwork.

A vegan, I'm into love for all beings, and I volunteer to help rescue wildlife, as well as rescue domestic animals, aside from us humans, since we're domesticated, although we don't like to think of ourselves as tame.

We're more than corraled, branded, and owned, actually.

That's why we all adore images of wild horses, adopt logos and other emblems signifying freedom and primeval states, etc.

I'm under no delusions about it.

My name was given to me at birth, and I know I don't have much in common with the body of water, except that I love to surf/swim/be near it, etc.!

I love to write thrillers, and I adore scary movies. I write what I like, and I'm very into twisted plots and weird characters.

I also write books on vegan food, health, spirituality, and on other subjects, like on historical figures I like to explore.

When I'm doing music all the times, it's great to switch to artwork or to writing - I always have the means to write with me, as well as to do music - that is, nearby - an usually a little recorder helps too - but the main thing I adore doing is helping, and I like to help someone every day - whether it's walking the beach to throw shells that have little critters inside back into the sea that have become stranded, or by posting on websites where people are looking for some sort of information I can provide, it feels great to help!
